Committee Profile
In SOCHUM, we will focus on mitigating the social inequalities and consequences that youth face with a flawed justice system, with issues that include a lack of effective community infrastructure, familial struggles, and more. Delegates in our committee will create resolutions with a multifaceted approach, incorporating both short-term and long-term solutions that ensure juveniles have access to adequate assistance and resources to prevent further incidents of incarceration.

Hello everyone, my name is Ethan Hung, and I am pleased to be your head chair for the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM)! I am currently an incoming senior at Arcadia High School, with this being my third year in Model United Nations. I joined MUN in my sophomore year to gain valuable skills in both public speaking and researching topics, and my skills in those categories have definitely improved thus far! The crisis of juvenile delinquency is a multifaceted issue, and I implore all delegates to do some thorough research and cook up some unique solutions that are both practical and equitable. As your head chair, I am very much looking forward to the diverse perspectives that you guys are going to bring to the conference! Some of my hobbies outside of Model UN include swimming, going out to eat unique foods, and playing video games with my friends.

Hello delegates! My name is Drew, and I’m a senior at Arcadia High School! In my free time, I love playing basketball and piano (or your stereotypical Asian stuff), and I’m interested in studying chemical engineering with aspirations to contribute to the biotech industry! As a legal at SGVMUN II for the DISEC committee, I enjoyed listening to delegates explore the political, ethical, and moral dimensions of biological warfare. I’m excited to hear the SOCHUM committee’s discussion on juvenile incarceration at SGVMUN III!

Hello everyone, I’m Zibo Zhang and I am your Legal for SOCHUM at SGVMUN III. I am currently a sophomore at Temple City High School and I have been involved in model UN for a year. I remember my first model UN conference and it was an amazing experience for me. I hope to give that same experience to all of you. In my free time, I enjoy playing Chess, Dota 2, and flipping my butterfly knives (not sharp of course). I hope you all enjoy the third edition of SGVMUN. See you at the conference!
