[SPECIAL] PRESS CORPS
Head Chair: Kathy Bai
Vice chair: Matthew Wang
Legal: Sienna Whitaker
Email: press@sgvmun.org
Topic: Protecting Journalists from State Censorship and Retaliation
Committee Profile
In Press Corps, we’ll dive deeper into the retaliation and censorship journalists face. Through the unique perspective of delegates acting as news outlets, our committee will focus on navigating state barriers that silence and punish journalists, from authoritarian rule to different forms of suppression. Delegates will ultimately propose resolutions to protect reporter safety and a free flow of information.

Kathy Bai
Head Chair
About Kathy
Hi delegates! My name is Kathy Bai, and I am excited to be your head chair for this year’s Press Corps committee. I am currently a senior at Arcadia High School, and this is my third year participating in Model UN. During my free time, I love hanging out with my friends, traveling, trying out new hobbies such as pottery and Ikebana arrangements, and graphic designing. This is my second year as a chair, and I can’t wait to meet all of you as well as hear what you’ve been brainstorming. I look forward to making this experience memorable!

Matthew Wang
Vice Chair
About Matthew
Hello delegates! My name is Matthew Wang, and I am honored to be your Vice Chair of Press Corps at SGVMUN III. I am currently a senior at Arcadia High School, and this is my third year in Model UN. In my free time, I enjoy cafe hopping, trying new foods, and going to the beach. This is my first time serving as a chair, and I am so excited to hear all your creative solutions (hot takes included) to the PRESS-ing (see what I did there ;D) issues presented during committee. I know you all will do great! By the end of the conference, I hope you will have learned lots, gained valuable experiences, and polished your delegacy skills. I promise to do my best to make everything as fun as possible, and I can’t wait to see you all soon!
